Outdoor School Tuition & Scholarships

Families may choose Tuesdays & Wednesdays only, Thursdays only, or all three days. We offer sliding-scale tuition so families can choose what works best for them. You will indicate if you need a scholarship on your application form. Your application form does not register your child; staff will reach out to you to confirm your registration. Families will be invited to make a payment to complete student registration.
*Please note: this program is a pilot to explore the feasibility of sustained programming. We are limited to 10 students for the first session and up to 20 for the second session.
*We offer student pick-up from Cordata Elementary School, so priority registration is given to students at Cordata Elementary School
If you register for fewer than three days a week, you can still choose a scholarship and we'll provide a prorated rate.
Full tuition is calculated at $17/hr. If you register for all three days/week, your child will receive 9.5 hours of outdoor school weekly. Costs can be kept this low for you thanks to generous community donations and contributions!

YOU choose your own rate!
Pilot Program Dates; April 21st - June 11th (8 weeks)
Please reach out to amy@ottersden.org to inquire about rates.

Sliding Scale Options
Families are invited to choose the level that works best for them:

-
Full Tuition – supports program sustainability
-
Half Tuition – 50% of full tuition
-
Give What You Can – choose a lower weekly rate or contribute through in-kind support (materials, snacks, skills, or time)
No explanation or documentation required—our goal is to make this program accessible to all families. However, we do have a limited number of scholarships we can offer at each level of the sliding scale.
Non-Discrimination

Scholarships are awarded in compliance with federal and Washington State non-discrimination laws, including RCW 49.60 and WAC 110-305-0010. No applicant will be excluded based on:
-
Race, color, or ethnicity
Religion or creed -
Sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation
-
National origin or ancestry
-
Disability
-
Age (within program eligibility)
-
Family structure or immigration status
Award Criteria
Scholarships are awarded using a neutral, mission-based review process that considers financial need, impact on the child’s access to outdoor learning, alignment with program mission and availability of scholarship funds. No preference is given based on personal relationships, donor status, or board/staff affiliation
Application & Review Process
Families submit a scholarship request and include basic hardship information. Applications are reviewed by at least two impartial reviewers. Reviewers must disclose and recuse themselves from any conflict of interest. Decisions are documented and retained for audit and licensing review.
