Outdoor Program Educator 

​

Do you love forests and ponds, working with elementary-aged kids, and inspiring the next generation of environmental stewards? Join Otters Den Nature School this spring as a Program Educator! This hands-on position is perfect for individuals passionate about outdoor education, wildlife, and cultivating social emotional growth in young learners. You’ll prepare and deliver engaging, nature-based experiences for students 3rd-5th grade and guide after school activities that connect students to the wonders of learning through nature.

 

  • Temporary, seasonal position

  • Spring program dates:  April 21st-June 11th

  • $21/hours, 15-20 hours/week

  • Re-hire will be considered for summer camps July 20th-24 and 27-31 and August 10-14 and 17-21st

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Deliver fun, hands-on lessons and outdoor exploration during spring programs for second and third grade students. 

  • Support a safe, inclusive, and inspiring learning environment for all participants. 

  • Encourage stewardship, teamwork, and curiosity about the natural world and local ecosystems. 

  • Work collaboratively with the Program Director to plan lessons and prepare to work with students with diverse abilities and needs. 
     

Qualifications 

  • At least 18 years old

  • Minimum High School Diploma and at least 10 hours or 1 credit of nature-based training/education

  • Experience working with students in outdoor or environmental education

  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about natural life, science, and conservation 

  • Comfortable working outdoors in variable weather 

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • (Preferred) strong background working with young students across academic and social emotional skill levels

  • (Preferred) Spanish speaking
